10th November 2008 - World's Largest Chocolate Fondue Party

The World’s Largest Chocolate Fondue Party. A Hope’08 event for Stop the Traffik.

Sat 29th November: 10.00-16.00 Lymm Village Hall, Pepper Street.

An event run by LBC Youth.

£3 to inc. chocolate fountain, drink, cake & goody bag.

Please invite friends. Invites & posters in the church foyer.

This is a Hope 08 & Lymm Churches Together event.

10th November 2008 - Breakfast in Bethlehem

On Saturday 6th December between 9.30am and 12.30pm, Lymm Baptist Church is open to all for our annual Breakfast in Bethlehem (A Morning of Christmas Family Activities) celebration.

Breakfast in Bethlehem is open to all. There will be crafts, Baking, nativity Photographs, Karaoke Carols, Refreshments and much more.

Come and join us for a fun morning out for all the family. Entry is free! Drop in anytime between 9.30am and 12.30pm.

This is a family event. All children must be accompanied by an adult, and all adults must be accompanied by at least one child!

At the church meeting on 18th September, an Elders election took place and John & Bryan were re-elected as Elders.

8th September 2008 - "Learning to Listen" Course from Acorn

On Friday 19th & Friday 26th September Lymm Baptist Church is hosting a "Learning to Listen" course run by Acorn.

The Acorn Christian Listeners’ Course introduces "the idea of the ministry of listening, and the skills of listening more effectively to others, to God and to ourselves. It is open to anyone who would like to be a better listener in his or her everyday life at home, at work and at church. It introduces a safe, disciplined way of listening, but it is not a training in counselling".

18th July 2008 - Elders & Deacons Election

At the next church meeting on 18th September, there will be elections for both Elders & Deacons.

26th June 2008 - tbc at LBC

As part of Lymm Schools Week (30th June to 4th July), tbc will be live in concert at Lymm Baptist Church on Friday 4th July at 6.15pm for all of our primary school children in Lymm.

23rd May 2008 - Fair Trade Fashion Evening

Lymm Baptist Church is holding Fair Trade Fashion Evening on Wednesday 11th June 2008 at 8pm.

Admission £3.50 including refreshments

You will be able to browse the clothes and try them on before you buy/order. Handbags, scarves and jewellery will also be for sale on the night.

All proceeds from tickets will go to Stop the Traffik.

3rd April 2008 - Walk2Romania

Walk2Romania 2008 will held on Saturday 5th July 2008 at Stockley Working Farm on the Arley Estate, Cheshire.

Walk2Romania is basically 150 people each walking 10 miles which when totalled will come to 1500 miles, the distance from Cheshire to Cluj-Napoca.

This is the fifth 'Walk2Romania' and our intention is to repeat this event each year, hopefully making improvements and turning it into a family event and a fun day for all.

3rd April 2008 - Big Picnic

To celebrate Pentecost - the Birthday of the church - Lymm Churches Together invite you to the BIG PICNIC on Sunday 11th May from 12.30 to 3.00pm.

Bring a blanket and some food and enjoy the afternoon with games and activities for all the family.

2nd April 2008 - John Mortishire Thanksgiving Service

There will be a thanksgiving service for John Mortishire at Lymm Baptist Church on Sunday 6th April 2008 at 4pm. All are very welcome to attend.

18th March 2008 - Elders responsibilities

At the last church meeting on 13th March 2008, it was decided that following a review of the church's support structures and a consideration of how the Leadership might provide better support in the church, the Elders have now taken on the following responsibilities,

  • Chris Newton - Teaching & Pastoral Support

  • Brian Mortishire - Pastoral Support

  • Rodger Spurling - Discipleship (inc Small Groups)

  • John Hall - Worship

  • Lester Barr - Communication

  • Richard Evans - Prayer

18th March 2008 - Deacons Election

At the last church meeting on 13th March 2008, Mark Stanway stood down as Property deacon and Julian Matthews was elected as Property deacon. Please pray for Julian that God will inspire and bless his future ministry.

This is a Hope 08 & Lymm Churches Together event.

7th March 2008 - Alpha Course

Next Alpha course starts Tuesday 1st April 2008 and runs every Tuesday afterwards for 10 weeks.

6th March 2008 - Totally Wired

The Urban Saints Totally Wired Tour is coming to LBC on Wednesday 23rd April 2008 at 7.30pm.

Totally Wired is an essential seminar for all parents, church leaders, youth leaders and anyone who cares about young people and the technology revolution.

The evening will be hosted by Matt Summerfield (Executive Director, Urban Saints) and presented by Chris Curtis (Director of Luton Churches Education Trust).

The evening aims to explore some of the following key questions,

  • What should parents and youth workers know about the digital world?

  • How are young people spending their time online?

  • What impact are online social networking sites having on young people?

  • How will mobiles and the internet develop over the next few years?

  • How can we help young people to stay safe online?

  • How can Christian youth and children’s work adapt to the online world?

Tickets are £5.

5th March 2008 - John Mortishire

We have now heard that John Mortishire's funeral service will take place on Tuesday 11 March at 2pm at Christ Church, 91 Coombe Road, New Malden, Surrey, KT3 4 RE.

This will be followed by a private family committal at Putney Vale Crematorium.

The request is for no flowers, but donations may be made to "The Cystic Fibrosis Trust". These may be sent to the Funeral Directors, Frederick Paine, 26 Crown Lane, Morden, Surrey, SM4 5BL. Please include your name and address.

If any children would like to send a letter or drawing to be placed in the coffin, these can be addressed to Jane either by post or email. The details are in the Church Directory.

A number of people have asked if we will be holding a thanksgiving service for John at LBC. This has been suggested to the family and if they are in agreement, we will make suitable arrangements.

7th January 2008 - Holiday Club 2008

Lymm Baptist Church is holding its annual Holiday Club for girls and boys currently at Primary School, in February 2008. The club runs from 10.00am to 12.30pm on Monday 11th to Friday 15th February 2008. Click here for more details.
