The Power of Inspiration Be an encourager and inspire someone today. http://www.WhileYouCanMovie.com Who was Jesus? What did he say and do? What was special about his life and why did he die? Why should it make any difference to us, today? If you are looking for a clear, simple, Biblical presentation of the gospel for those looking for faith on the net, see IntroducingJesus.org. At our All Age Harvest Thanksgiving Service on Sunday 1st October 2006, Mark Hamill used the prayer below to close the service. The Harvest Prayer Please be gentle with yourself and others. We are all children of God Only He can say why some fields blossom While others lay down beneath the harvest sun. Take hope that your season will come. Share the joy of those whose season is at hand. Care for those around you. Look past your differences. Their dreams are no less than yours, Their choices in life no more easily made. And give. Give in any way you can. Give in every way you can. Give whatever you possess. Give from your heart. To give is to love. To withhold is to wither. Care less for the size of your harvest than for how it is shared, And your life will have meaning And your heart will have peace. What is Church? On Saturday 18th March 2006, David Barker (a student at Moorlands College on a 5 week placements at Lymm Baptist Church) led a discussion on "What is Church?" at a men's breakfast meeting, focussing on key elements of church structure/outlook and with a particular focus on the Cell church model. Marking Time or Going on Growth As part of our month of prayer in January 2006, we spent some time looking at whether or not we are marking time or going for growth. This document was used to help us examine our relationships.
Count Your Blessings Complaining and moaning has become a habit in many places, including churches, offices and schools. This simple activity can change how we look at the day and can transform it. It can begin to bring into different places a sense of gladness and thankfulness. Finding one hundred blessings in the day is a Jewish custom. Throughout the day collect 100 blessings. Become aware of moments, events, encounters, things you see, hear, touch, smell, whatever brings delight, enjoyment or gladness. Note whatever is around you that is pleasing - the clouds, the wood of the table, the wind in the trees, the colour of someone's hair, the touch of water against your skin, a friend's voice, a smile, something unexpected, something of beauty. Make a record sheet to keep a note. People from a Theistic spiritual tradition can offer thanks to God for His many blessings. Skills Review & Spiritual Gifts Assessment God has given each of us gifts to be used in his service. However, few of us seem to know what these gifts are. Questionnaires have been developed that will help us to begin to identify our spiritual gifts. These surveys are simply tools in the wider process of discerning God's will and plan for each of us. Below is a list of internet based surveys none of which are perfect, but all are helpful in beginning the process. |
