In July 2008, Ian & Clare left to take up a part-time student pastorate post at Studley Baptist Church while training for Baptist ministry at Bristol Baptist College.

Statement from Chris & the Elders (July 2007)

Over the past couple of months the Elders of the church have been in discussion with Ian Olliver, one of our church members, seeking to help him discern more clearly what he believes is an emerging call on his life to engage in some form of Christian ministry in the future. As part of this process, we held a special Church Meeting on Thursday 14th June at which Ian spoke about his sense of call and at which Chris, on behalf of the Elders, presented a proposal that we should invite Ian to become a part-time member of the paid staff of Lymm Baptist Church for one year, acting as a Ministry Assistant. The aim would be to give Ian as much opportunity as possible to get stuck into a wide range of ministry tasks in the areas of [a] community engagement, [b] youth and children's work, [c] preaching and pastoral care, in the belief that during this period greater clarification would emerge as to where his gifts and calling lie. The church has approved this proposal and Ian officially joined the staff team on 1st July.
